A finPOWER Connect Alternative for Cash Advance Funders in Australia

finPOWER Connect is loan software. If your book is advances rather than loans — factor rates, daily direct debits, syndication and broker commission — MCA Track models that natively, keeps the payment provider you already run, and pairs with MCA Verify for bank-statement underwriting.

The Short Answer

These are two different product categories

finPOWER Connect is loan origination, loan management and investment software from Intersoft Systems, a New Zealand firm with more than 35 years in finance software. Its own material describes it as purpose-built for lenders and reports 400+ lenders across Australia and New Zealand — consumer and commercial credit, asset and equipment finance, banks and mutuals, non-bank lenders. For amortising credit in this market it is a genuinely capable platform, and well wired into the local ecosystem.

MCA Track is cash advance software. It has served merchant cash advance funders since 2010 and models a purchase of future receivables, not a loan: an advance amount, a factor rate, a fixed payback, and a daily or weekly direct debit that runs until the payback is collected.

That difference is not cosmetic. A loan core is built around principal, an interest rate, an amortisation schedule and arrears ageing. An advance has none of those. It has no interest accrual, no amortisation, and its performance is measured against an expected collection pace rather than a due date. Modelling an advance on a term-lending core means approximating it — usually as a fixed-term facility with the interest precomputed and charged upfront, with the factor rate carried in a user-defined field. It works. It is not the same as a system that only does that math.

The Core Difference

An advance is not a loan

On a loan, you lend $100,000 at a rate over a term and the system amortises it: each instalment splits into interest and principal, interest accrues, and a missed payment ages into an arrears bucket.

On a cash advance, you buy $130,000 of future receivables for $100,000. The factor rate is 1.30. The payback is fixed at $130,000 on day one. Nothing accrues. You collect $1,300 a day by direct debit until the $130,000 is in. If collections slow, the deal does not fall into arrears — it falls behind pace, which is a different measurement and a different collections response.

Everything downstream follows from that. Payback, balance, percentage paid and performance score are native to MCA Track because they are the only math the system does.

MCA-Native

What a term-lending core will not give you

  • Syndication — partners co-fund a share of an advance and take a proportional share of collections, less the fees you keep. MCA Track tracks both directions: collecting each partner’s investment and paying their share out over the life of the deal. An investor module built for depositors and capital pools solves a different problem.
  • Broker commission and partner portals — commission per broker, per deal, with a white-label portal partners log into to submit and track their own pipeline.
  • Renewals and reups — the most common event in a cash advance book. A renewal closes the current advance, carries the remaining balance into a new one, and opens it on new terms while preserving the full repayment history.
  • High-frequency direct debit — daily and weekly debits, credits, splits and dishonours, every transaction recorded against the advance for a clean audit trail.
  • Performance-based portfolio view — exposure and repayment pace across the book, showing which deals are ahead or behind rather than which are 30/60/90 days overdue.
Payments

Keep the payment provider you already use

This is usually the first question an Australian funder asks, and the answer is straightforward: MCA Track is payment-provider agnostic. We integrate the provider you already run rather than forcing you onto ours — whether that is Monoova, Zepto, another direct entry bureau, or your bank’s own facility.

That matters on a switch. The collection rail is the part of a lending operation with the most operational risk attached to it: mandates, dishonour handling, settlement timing, reconciliation. Changing servicing platforms is a big enough project without changing how money moves at the same time. Keep the rail, change the system around it.

Underwriting

Bank statements, not bureau files

finPOWER Connect’s origination side is wired into the local credit ecosystem — its public material names Equifax, illion, Credit Sense, GreenID, PPSR and Addressfinder among its integrations. For regulated consumer and commercial lending, that is the right toolkit, and it is a real reason to stay.

Cash advance underwriting runs on a different input. The decision comes from the business’s bank statements: average daily balance, deposit consistency, days in negative, dishonours, and whether other funders’ debits are already hitting the account.

MCA Verify does that work. It parses statements, runs cash-flow and affordability analysis, performs stacking detection against each funder’s own list of competitor descriptors, flags edited or inconsistent documents, and produces an explainable risk score with an AI-drafted credit memo and an immutable audit log — inside the same workflow as the funding platform rather than beside it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is finPOWER Connect?
finPOWER Connect is loan origination, loan management and investment software from Intersoft Systems, a New Zealand company with more than 35 years in finance software. Its public material reports 400+ lenders across Australia and New Zealand, covering consumer and commercial lending, asset and equipment finance, banks and mutuals, and non-bank lenders.
Can finPOWER Connect handle merchant cash advances?
finPOWER Connect is a configurable lending platform, so a factor-rate product can be modelled on it — typically as a fixed-term facility with interest precomputed and charged upfront, and the factor rate carried in a user-defined field. What a term-lending core does not model natively is the rest of the operation: per-deal syndication, broker commission and portals, renewals that carry a balance into a new advance, and performance measured against collection pace rather than arrears ageing.
Does MCA Track work in Australia?
Yes. MCA Track runs the full advance lifecycle — intake, underwriting, contracts, servicing, syndication, broker commission and renewals — and is payment-provider agnostic, so Australian funders keep the direct debit provider they already use and we integrate it.
Can we keep Monoova if we switch?
Yes. MCA Track integrates the payment provider you already run rather than requiring its own. Whether you collect through Monoova, Zepto, another direct entry bureau or your bank’s facility, the rail stays as it is and the servicing platform changes around it.
How is a factor rate different from an interest rate?
An interest rate accrues over time against an outstanding principal balance, so paying early costs less. A factor rate is a multiplier applied once: a $100,000 advance at 1.30 has a fixed $130,000 payback from day one, regardless of how quickly it is collected. Loan software amortises; cash advance software does not.
Does MCA Track support syndication?
Yes. Partners can co-fund a share of an advance and receive a proportional share of collections, less the fees the funder retains. The platform tracks each partner’s investment in and payouts out across the life of the deal, with syndication reporting per partner.
Can we migrate an existing book off finPOWER Connect?
Yes — funders move across from other systems bringing clients, advances, balances and repayment history with them. The real work is mapping a loan data model onto an advance one: principal and precomputed interest become advance amount, factor rate and payback, and instalment schedules become direct debit schedules. Agree the mapping before anyone starts exporting.
